Barbara Nierling, age 75, of Waukon, Iowa died Tuesday, April 28, 1987 at Veterans Memorial Hospital in Waukon. Funeral services were held Thursday April 30 at 11 a.m. at St. Patrick's Catholic Church. Burial was in St. Mary's Church Cemetery, Lycurgus with Martin Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Casket bearers were Randy, Larry and Dean Nierling, Tim Waters, and Dave and Clark Stilwell.

Barbara was born February 6, 1912 in Waukon, Iowa to Michael and Jessie (Stilwell) Barthell. She attended Waukon High School. She married George Nierling in June 1968. She was a homemaker and did volunteer work at the county care facility. She was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a brother, Michael Barthell and two sisters, Diedre Mastro and Lottie Barthell *uncertain if she had a married name, it was only listed as Lottie*.

She is survived by several nieces and nephews.
