Contributor: Connie Ellis (Not related)Dale J. Elvers, age 66, of Waukon, Iowa died Wednesday August 6, 1986 at St. Francis Hospital in LaCrosse, Wisconsin. Services were held Friday, August 8 at 2 p.m. at St. John's Lutheran Church with the Rev. Lynn Groe officiating. Burial was in Oakland Cemetery with Martin Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Military graveside services were conducted by the American Legion. Casket bearers were Don Kruse, Frank Lonning, Richard Fruechte, Paul Fahey, Robert Weymiller, and Jerry Blume.
Dale was born November 13, 1919 in Clayton County to Otto and Marie (Dohrer) Elvers. He graduated from Elkader High School. He attended Iowa State University in Ames, Iowa. On September 6, 1942 he married Deletta Porter in Edgewood, Iowa. He served in the Air Force during World War II. After his discharge, they moved to Waukon, Iowa in 1945. He was an assistant hog buyer with Interstate Producers Livestock Association. He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother Kenneth Elvers.
Survivors include his wife, Deletta; a son, Ronald Elvers of Silver Spring, Maryland; a daughter, Mrs. Brad (Linda) Allen of Westminster, Colorado; 2 grandchildren; a brother Donald Elvers of Cedar Rapids, Iowa and 2 sisters, Mrs. Richard (Marilyn) Fay of Des Moines, Iowa and Mrs. Kenneth (Nancy) Deetz of St. Paul, Minnesota.
