Contributor: Connie Ellis (Not related)Helen M. Wiltgen, age 63, of Waukon, Iowa died Friday, June 27, 1986 at Gundersen Lutheran Hospital in LaCrosse, Wisconsin. Services were held Monday, June 30 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Patrick's Catholic Church with Father Ed Lechtenberg officiating. Burial was in Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Waukon with Martin Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Casket bearers were Ray Kreeb, Don Hammer, Don Sweeney, William Waldron, Mark Mauss, and Jim Campbell.
Helen was born May 9, 1923 in Waukon, Iowa to Frank and Winifred (Regan) Baxter. She graduated from Waukon Senior High School. She married Vivien "Viv" Wiltgen on August 23, 1943 in Waukon, Iowa. She was a homemaker, a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church, St. Patrick's Rosary Society, and the VFW auxiliary. She had lived in Webster City, Iowa, Ossian, Iowa, Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and Waukon, Iowa.
She was preceded in death by two children, Mary Kay and Robert, who died in infancy, and three brothers, Kenneth Baxter, John Baxter, and Donald Baxter.
Survivors include her husband, Viv; 2 daughters, Maralyn O'Donnell of Waukon, Iowa and Geralyn Torkelson of Farmersburg, Iowa and a son, Joel Wiltgen of Norman, Oklahoma; 7 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren; 2 brothers, Charles Baxter and Oliver Baxter, both of Waukon, Iowa and 2 sisters, Mrs. Gregg (Charlotte) Schwartzhoff of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and Mrs. John (Dorothy) Keefe of Whitewater, Wisconsin.
