James P. Delaney, age 83, of rural Lansing, Iowa, died Thursday, January 22, 1987 at his home. Funeral services were held Monday, January 26 at 11 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Wexford, Allamakee County, Iowa. The Rev. John Smith officiated. Burial was in the church cemetery. Burke-Thornburg Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. Pallbearers were Leon Mohn, Mark Kruse, Ray Wagner, Ray Mullarkey, John Conway, and Mike Manning.

James was born February 25, 1903 in Lafayette Township, Allamakee County, Iowa to John and Catherine (Kernan) Delaney. He married Evelyn Mullarkey on September 24, 1935 at I.C. Church in Wexford. He farmed in the Lansing area all of his life.

He was preceded in death by a son, William Delaney, a brother and a sister.

He is survived by his wife, Evelyn; 6 sons, Leo Delaney of Monahans, Texas, Francis Delaney of Amana, Iowa, George Delaney and Daniel Delaney of Lansing, Iowa, James Delaney of Kenosha, Wisconsin, and Thomas Delaney of Rhinelander, Wisconsin; 21 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.
