Contributor: Connie Ellis (Not related)James Mulroy McDermott, age 71, of Waukon, Iowa died Thursday, December 11, 1986 at Lutheran Hospital in LaCrosse, Wisconsin. Services were held Saturday, December 13 at 2 p.m. at Martin Funeral Home with the Rev. Henry Heinbuch. Burial was in Oakland Cemetery with Martin Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Casket bearers were Frank Jones, Gary Soper, Arthur Gelo, Arlyn Pladsen, Ronald Rumph, and Gary Rumph.
Mulroy was born July 21, 1915 in Dubuque, Iowa to Michael J. and Agnes Rose (Collins) McDermott. He attended Waukon Schools. He had some police training in Des Moines, Iowa. On August 8, 1945 he married Florence Sherman in Waukon, Iowa. He had been a farmer, trucker,and cafe owner in Ryan, Iowa, a Waukon policeman, Allamakee County Deputy Sheriff, and had worked for Gilbert Ambulance Service and Pladsen Motors.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Sharon Granneman in 1978.
He is survived by his wife, Florence and two grandchildren Jamie Granneman and Gavin Granneman.
