Margaret A. Hitchins, age 91, of Waverly, Iowa died Sunday, March 15, 1987 at Waverly Municipal Hospital. Funeral services have been set for Friday, March 20 at 11 a.m. at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in New Albin, Iowa with the Rev. Robert Rahe officiating. Burial will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery in New Albin. Kaiser-Corson Funeral Home in Waverly is in charge of arrangements.

Margaret was born September 9, 1895 in New Albin, Iowa to Thomas and Margaret (Waters) Reburn. She attended school in New Albin and Dubuque, Iowa. She married James L. Hitchins on June 23, 1925 at St. Joseph's Church. They lived in South Bend, Indiana before returning to New Albin in 1931 to farm. In 1959, they retired and moved to LaCrosse, Wisconsin. After her husband's death in July, 1966, she returned to New Albin. In 1967 she moved to Waverly, Iowa. She taught rural school in the New Albin area and was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Waverly, Iowa.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a great-granddaughter, a sister Blanch Freilinger, and two brothers, Leo Reburn and Edward Reburn.

Her survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Edward (Mary) Kern of Waverly, Iowa; 3 sons, Bernard J. Hitchins of Sunnyvale, California, Thomas J. Hitchins of San Jose, California, and Donald J. Hitchins of New Albin, Iowa; 10 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.
