Funeral services for Mathilda E. Verdon, age 89, of Lansing, Iowa were held at 11 a.m. Friday, January 17 from Immaculate Conception Church in Lansing with the Rev. Robert P. Rahe officiating. Burial was in Gethsemane Cemetery. Burke-Thornburg Funeral Home of Lansing was in charge of arrangements.

Mathilda died Tuesday, January 14, 1986 at Veterans Memorial Hospital in Waukon, Iowa. She was born October 3, 1896 in Union City township of Allamakee County, Iowa, the daughter of August and Mary Kurk Kurk.*as it appeared in the paper.*
She married Leo Verdon in July of 1914. He died in July of 1952. She was also preceded in death by children Dominic, Raphael, and Harriet, a grandchild, two brothers, and two sisters.

Her survivors are her children Lawrence Verdon of Menomonie, Wisconsin, Cornelius Verdon of Port Charlotte, Florida, Walter Verdon of Mesa, Arizona, Mary Bach of Dubuque, Iowa and Millie Goodell and Maggie Strub, both of Lansing, Iowa; 33 grandchildren, 53 great-grandchildren and 8 great-great grandchildren.
