Lansing businessman, John C. Brophy, age 71, died at his home on Front Street Thursday, December 5, 1985. Funeral services were held Monday morning, December 9 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Lansing, Iowa with Rev. J. T. Finucan and Rev. Herbert Tegeler con-celebrating the 11 a.m. mass. Burial was in Gethsemane Cemetery. Burke Thornburg Funeral Home in Lansing, Iowa was in charge of arrangements.

Born in Hampton, Iowa on October 3, 1914, he was the son of Joseph and Anna (Greenfield) Brophy. At the time of his death, Brophy was chairman of the board of the Lansing Company in Lansing, having formerly been its president. His only close survivor is a sister, Geraldine Scarpino of West Des Moines, Iowa.

The Iowa Conservation Commission named John C. Brophy of Lansing its new chairman at the Commission's July 2 meeting. Marian Pike of Whiting was named vice chairperson. Brophy succeeds Herbert T. Reed of Winterset, whose term expired June 30, 1979. Their terms will expire June 30, 1981.
