Lifelong area resident Attorney Arthur H. Jacobson, age 75 died Friday, February 21, 1986 at the Methodist Hospital in Rochester, Minnesota. Services were held Tuesday, February 25 at 11 a.m. at St. John's Lutheran Church with the Rev. Lynn Groe officiating. Burial was in the Oakland Cemetery with Martin Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements. Casket bearers were James D. Bristol, Dr. Frank Norden, John Leschensky, Ed Lauerman, Jr., James Thomson, John Bauercamper, James A. Garrett and Gregg Eaton. Pallbearers were Morris Larson and G. Belvel Richter.

Mr. Jacobson was born June 24, 1910 to Gustav and Gusta (Blilie) Jacobson in Waukon, Iowa. He was a graduate of Waukon High School, Waukon Junior College, the University of Iowa with a bachelor of arts degree and a juris doctor (law) degree with high distinction. He was elected to the Order of the COIF at the University of Iowa. He married Isabel Chafer on September 15, 1934 in Macon, Missouri.

Arthur Jacobson had been a state senator for eight years and was active in the Republican Party. He was president of the Farmers and Merchants Savings Bank in Waukon, Iowa, a member of the county and state bar associations, former member of the board of governors of the State Bar Association. He was a member of the county and state Association of Trial Lawyers, local and national board of directors of the Good Samaritan Society; former member of the national council of the American Lutheran Church, member of the LCUSA of the Lutheran Church of the U.S.A.; he was a former state president of the Lutheran Social Services and a partner in the law firm of Jacobson, Bristol, Thomson, Bauercamper and Garett in Waukon, Iowa

He was preceded in death by a half-sister, Corenne Yelverton.

He is survived by his wife, Isabel; a daughter Sybil Jacobson of New York City and a son Ethan Jacobson and his wife, Gloria of Lakewood, Colorado; and 2 grandchildren, Darren and Nicole.
