Contributor: Connie Ellis (Not related)Memorial services have been set for 2 p.m. Wednesday, March 23 for Rolland Hangartner, age 84, who died Friday, March 18, 1988 at Veterans Memorial Hospital. The Rev. Larry Olson will conduct the services held at First Presbyterian Church and Martin Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Rolland was born January 3, 1904 in Marion, Wisconsin to John Jacob and Ida (Tanner) Hangartner. He graduated from Marion High School and Milwaukee School of Engineering in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. On April 25, 1933 he married Hildegarde Frailing in Split Rock, Wisconsin. He was the owner-operator of Gambles Store in Waukon, Iowa for 38 years and was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Toastmasters Club, Kiwanis, and the Waukon Golf and Country Club.
He was preceded in death by a son Ronald Hangartner in December 1987 and five brothers and sisters, Fred, William, Emily, Gusta, and Margaret.
Surviving are his wife; 2 sons, Jerry Hangartner of Golden Valley, Minnesota and Stanley Hangartner of Fremont, California; eight grandchildren and a sister, Mrs. Herbert (Mertie) Goltz of Marion, Wisconsin.
