Funeral services were held Wednesday, July 20 at 9:30 a.m. for Mary (Hammel) Bedner, age 67, of Chicago, Illinois who died Sunday July 17, 1988 at Holy Cross Hospital in Chicago. The services were held at St.Clare's Catholic Church, Chicago, Illinois with burial in St. Mary Cemetery. Casket bearers were Robert Hammel, Dick Lewey, Jim Pryor, and Bob Pryor.

Mary was born March 31, 1921 in New Albin, Iowa to Charles F. and Mae (La Tronch) Hammel. On July 26, 1947 she married Anthony Bedner in Chicago. She was a member of St.Clare's Church. She was preceded in death by a brother Richard Hammel.

Surviving are her husband, 3 sisters, Josephine Ingles of Waterloo, Iowa, Rita German of Lakeville, Minnesota, and Irene Lewey of Waukon, Iowa and 2 brothers, Vernon Hammel of Waukon, Iowa and Robert Hammel of Lakeville, Minnesota.
