Donald J. Deeny
Donald J. Deeny, son Hugh and Sarah (Dougherty) Deeny, was born May 21, 1907 at Waukon, Iowa. He died suddenly June 8, 1995 at Lutheran Hospital in LaCrosse, Wisconsin. He was 88 years old.
Donald was a lifetime Waukon area resident. He attended Lycurgus school.
He was married to Bernice Decker on June 8, 1931. She died in 1970. On May 28, 1982 he was married to Dorothy Gallagher in Waukon, Iowa.
He was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church. He liked going to livestock auctions, car races, tractor pulls, card playing, dancing, and traveling.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Bernice; a daughter, Jane Ann who was six years old at the time of her death; and two sisters, Edith and Loretta. He is survived by his wife, Dorothy Deeny of Waukon; two daughters, Mary and her husband, William Braman of Newington, Conn. and Donna May of Waukon, Iowa.
A scripture service was held Sunday, June 11, 1995 at Martin Funeral Home, Waukon. Funeral services were held Monday, June 12, 1995 at St. Patrick Catholic Church with Rev. Msgr. Ed Lechtenberg officiating and F. Maurice Gallagher assisting. Casket bearers were James May III, Clark Lewey, Jubal Snitker, Colin Ahlstrom, Lenny Bulman, and Lyle Jahnke. Arrangements were made by Martin Funeral Home of Waukon. Burial was in Lycurgus Cemetery, rural Waukon.
