Former Allamakee County, Iowa resident Rueben E. Bauercamper, age 82, died Wednesday January 4, 1989 at Colonial Manor Nursing Home in Baxter, Iowa. Funeral services were held Friday January 6, 1989 at the Congregational United Church of Christ with the Rev. Darrell Bailey officiating. Burial was in Restland Cemetery.

Mr. Bauercamper was born July 4, 1906 in Waukon, Iowa to David and Sarah (Hager) Bauercamper. He attended Waukon schools. On June 12, 1938 he married Estella Goeke in Unionville, Missouri. Since 1937 he had lived in Baxter, Iowa where he operated the Baxter Locker Plant for nine years. He had been employed by Farmers Implement Co. for several years, owned and operated the Plumbing and Pump Company for nine years and had been a security guard at the Maytag Co. for 16 years, prior to retiring in 1972. He was a member of Congregational UCC and Masonic Lodge 520 AF and AM of Baxter.

He was preceded in death by a brother. Survivors include his wife, two daughters, Charlene Gaard of Urbandale, Iowa and Mary Kay Thornton of Ankeny, Iowa; a son Gary Bauercamper of Bettendorf, Iowa; two grandchildren and a sister Ruth Crawford of Miami, Florida.
