Contributor: Connie Ellis (Not related)Anna Belle Smith was born April 13, 1907 in the Big Foot area of Allamakee County, Iowa to John and Lottie (Decker) Campbell. She attended Big Foot and "16" rural schools. On February 10, 1926 she married William B. Smith in Waukon, Iowa. They farmed in the Volney area. She was a member of Garden City United Methodist Church in Monona, Iowa and was active in the Volney Methodist Ladies Aid. She died Monday August 7, 1989 at her home.
Funeral services were held August 10 at 2 p.m. at Volney Methodist Church with the Rev. Gary Dobbins officiating. Burial was in the Smithfield Cemetery with Schultz Funeral Home of Monona in charge of arrangements. Casket bearers were Ralph, Gordon, and Jack Campbell, Keith Wilkins, Robert, Norman, and Earl Smith and Lester Kaeser.
Surviving are her daughter, Mrs. Clarence (Judy) Haberichter of Volney, a niece, Mrs. Robert (Linda Rose) Sanger, who made her home with the Smiths since 1955 after her mother had passed away; eight grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, and a sister, Mrs. Lee (Mildred) Wilkins of Harpers Ferry, Iowa.
In addition to her husband, who died April 26, 1974, two brothers, Lloyd and Judson Campbell, and two sisters, Mrs. Raymond (Ferne) Rose and Winnifred Campbell, who died at the age of 11, preceded her in death.
