Helen Kurt, 82, of Waukon,Iowa died Wednesday, September 20, 1989 at Veterans Memorial Hospital. Funeral services were held Friday, September 22 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Patrick's Catholic Church. Father Ed Lechtenberg officiated and burial was in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Martin Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Helen was born September 11, 1907 in Dubuque, Iowa to Matthias and Frances (Kiley) Kimmich and attended Holy Trinity then Sacred Heart High School in Dubuque, graduating in 1924. On October 7, 1924 she married Francis B. Kurt in Sacred Heart Church, Dubuque. She lived in Dubuque before moving to Waukon in 1933. She was a homemaker and had been employed with Bell Telephone before her marriage.

Survivors include her husband, three sons, Francis R. Kurt of Waukon, Crispin Kurt of Milwaukee, Wisconsin and John Kurt of Crossville, TN; a daughter, Susan O'Hollearn of Des Moines, Iowa and eight grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Marilynn Clarke in 1970, four sisters, Isabelle, Hilda, Jane, and Gladys, and four brothers, Father Oliver OFM, Father Paul OFM and two in infancy.
