Contributor: Connie Ellis (Not related)Funeral services for Leo Boese were held Tuesday, October 10, 1989 at 1:30 p.m. in the Community Presbyterian Church in Postville, Iowa. The Rev. Terrance P. Hennesy officiated. He was assisted by Lyle J. Ewing, a seminary student from the congregation.
Leo James Boese, son of Robert and Dorothy (Freeman) Boese, was born September 18, 1924 in Postville. He died October 7,1989 in the VA Medical Center in Iowa City, Iowa. He served as a Signalman Third Class in the Navy during World War II. He was assigned to the Asiatic Pacific and the Phillippine Liberation and received the Victory Medal.
He married Virginia Peckham on September 12, 1948 in Postville's Community Presbyterian Church. He was employed at Hygrade Food Products for more than 17 years.
He is survived by his wife, three sons, Mark of Postville, Greg of Iowa City,Iowa, and Kent of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; one daughter, Mrs. Randy (Dawn) Sebastian, of Postville; 5 grandchildren; four brothers, John of Postville, Edward of Davenport, Iowa, and Don and Frank of Waukon; and two sisters, Mrs. Norman (Dorothy) Johnson of Postville and Mrs. Peter (Kate) Glick of Olin, Iowa.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Robert and Harold.
Pallbearers were Gilbert Livingood, Eric Johnson, Roger Linderbaum, Donald Folsom, Stewart Boysen and James Ewing. The Schutte Funeral Service was charge of arrangements.
