Contributor: Connie Ellis (Not related)Funeral services were held Monday November 20, 1989 for Waukon,Iowa resident George Thomas Connor, 73, who died Thursday, November 16, 1989 at St. Francis Hospital in LaCrosse, WI. The 11 a.m. services were held at St.Patrick's Catholic Church in Waukon. Burial was in Mt. Olivet Cemetery with Hanson Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
He was born November 29, 1916 in Allamakee County to Michael and Anna (Laughlin) Connor and attended school through the 12th grade. On August 24, 1942 he married Alice Howes at St. Patrick's church, and he served in the Navy from 1942-1945. He had been employed as a meat cutter and factory worker. He was a member of St.Patrick's Church and the VFW.
Surviving are his wife, three daughters, Kay Ollendick of Cuba City, WI, Mary Schulte of Davenport, Iowa, and Ellen Herman of Waukon; three sons, Dan and Jim, both of Onalaska, WI, and Richard of Davenport; ten grandchildren, a sister, Rita Ward of Mill Valley, CA and a brother, William of Waukon.
He was preceded in death by three brothers, Leo, Bert, and Jack, and a granddaughter, Sarah.
Caskett bearers were Tim, Todd and Scott Ollendick, Chris Schulte, Jim McCormick, and Francis Hammel.
