Contributor: Connie Ellis (Not related)Alfred Rynhart Saewert, 76, of rural Lansing, Iowa, died Friday, December 8, 1989 at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines, Iowa. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, December 13,1989 at 1:30 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church. The Rev. Larry Olson will conduct the services. Burial will be in Lansing Ridge Cemetery with Martin Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Visitation will be after 2 p.m. Tuesday, December 12 at Martin Funeral Home.
He was born September 30, 1913 in Ludlow Township, Allamakee County to Carl H. and Lydia (Reutkemeyer) Saewert. He attended school through the eighth grade at Churchtown and Hartong Schools. July 29, 1951 he married Marcella Woods at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. He lived most of his life on the farm where he was living at the time of his death. He was a farmer and member of First Presbyterian Church and the Farm Bureau.
Surviving are his wife, a son, Raymond of Twain Harte, CA; a grandson, a great-grandchild, three brothers, Leonard of Lansing, Willis of Waukon, and Milton of Ferryville, WI; two sisters, Mildred Hogan of Lansing and Dorothy Dahl of Skandia, MI, and nieces and nephews.
Casket bearers are Ralph Schellhammer, Richard Sandry, Willard Kerndt, Herb Larkin, Edwin Winters, and Hank Rissman.
