Delores Gruber Tillinghast, 87, of Lansing, Iowa died Friday, March 5, 1999 at Thornton Manor Care Center in Lansing. Funeral services were held Monday, March 8, at 2 p.m. at Martin Funeral Home in Waukon, Iowa with the Rev. Lynn Groe officiating. Burial was in Oakland Cemetery in Waukon.

Delores Leona Gruber Tillinghast was born March 14, 1911 on the Union Prairie Township, rural Waukon farm of her parents, Gustav and Mathilda (Henry) Gruber. She attended Eillis School in Union Prairie Township and Waukon High School. On February 4, 1940 she married Raymond Tillinghast at Red Wing, MN. After living in Decorah for many years, Delores and Ray moved to Harpers Ferry in 1949 where they owned and operated Tillinghast Boat Landing for many years.

Survivors include a niece, Shirley Gruber Larkin of Waukon, Merrill B. Gruber of Monona, several other nieces and nephews, and a sister-in-law, Leone Gruber of Waukon.

Delores is preceded in death by her husband and her two brothers Merrill H. Gruber and Verton Gruber. Casket bearers were Merrill B. Gruber, Cyril Larkin, Emmett Larkin, John Luster, James Adams, and Wesley Forde.
