Another aged resident, William M. Nelson, 83, died Tuesday night, May 11, 1943 at his home near Rossville, Iowa, following a four weeks illness, due to the after effects of a stroke.
The deceased was the son of Andrew Nelson and Elizabeth Hardin, born March 17, 1860 at Mason, Illinois, where he grew to manhood and was employed for many years in the yards of the Illinois Central Railroad in Centralia, Illinois. On April 24,1885, he was united in marriage with Miss Florence E. Bowling, who preceded him in death. One daughter, Blanche Garrison was born to this union. On January 5, 1929, Mr. Nelson came to Jefferson township to spend his declining years with his granddaughter,Thelma, Mrs.Creston Kelly, who tenderly cared for him. He is survived by two grandchildren and three gt-grandchildren. Also a sister, Mrs. Mary Green of Chicago, Illinois. He was preceded in death by his brothers Sofrenius Nelson, Steven Nelson, and his sister, Jeanette May Irey.
The deceased was a member of the Episcopal church. Funeral services will be held Friday morning at ten o'clock at Pluemer-Hanson funeral Home, conducted by Rev. A.H. Grossheim, followed by burial in the Oakland cemetery, Waukon, Iowa. The pallbearers will be Ernest Deal, Lyal Mitchell, Floyd Leas, Cloyd Pettit, John Huffman, and Oscar Thompson.
