Cecelia "Ceil" Schofield

Cecelia "Ceil" Schofield, age 94, of Waukon passed away peacefully Thursday, September 23, 2010 at Good Samaritan Society-Waukon following a short illness. Services were held Monday, September 27 at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Waukon, with Fr. Joseph Schneider, Msgr. Ed Lechtenberg and Deacon Mike Ward officiating. Burial was in St. Patrick Church Cemetery, Monona. Hanson Funeral Home of Waukon assisted the family with arrangements.
Cecelia was born May 5, 1916 in rural Waukon to Mike and Rose (Quillin) Sweeney. After graduating high school, she went on to become a teacher and also owned a fashion boutique dress shop in Waukon. In June of 1938 she married Mike Schofield at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Lycurgus.
Survivors include her children, Sue (Darrell) Rogness of Waukon, Tom (Mary) Schofield of New Albin, Larry (Sheri) Schofield of Elko, MN, and Deb (Bruce) Kubitz of Waukon; 12 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Evelyn Fossum of Edwardsville, KS and Darlene (Andy) Anderson of Waukon.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her brothers, Ralph, Ray and Leonard Sweeney; her sisters, Rita Sweeney, Helen Smorstad and Rosella Henderson; and one step-great-grandaughter.
Casketbearers were Michael Kubitz, Larry Kubitz, Chris Kurth, Lucas Krambeer, Tyler Hoffman, Corey Hoffman, Carter Thies and Brock Waters.
