Marjorie A. Schott, 84, of Waukon, died Saturday, April 2, 2005, at the Good Samaritan Center in Waukon. Funeral services were held Tuesday, April 5 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Waukon, with Fr. Joseph Schneider officiating. Burial was in Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Waukon. Martin Funeral Home in Waukon was in charge of arrangements.
Marjorie Ann Stoulil was born December 1, 1920, in Havelock, Iowa, the daughter of William and Elma (Overmeier) Stoulil. She was baptized and confirmed at St. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Pocahontas, Iowa, attended elementary school in Pocahontas, and graduated from Havelock High School in 1937.
On November 27, 1941, she married Francis Charles Schott in Pocahontas at St. Peter & Paul Catholic Church. After Fran’s discharge from service, the couple moved to Storm Lake, Iowa, where they operated a restaurant. From 1949 until 1959 they farmed near Cylinder, Iowa. Marge and Fran moved to Waukon in 1959, where they managed the bowling alley for several years before Marge went to work for JC Penney Co. until her retirement.
Marge was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church and the VFW Auxiliary Post in Waukon. She was talented with handiwork and made ceramics, worked on various crafts, and crocheted afghans for several family members. She liked to bowl and travel and always enjoyed a good visit with family or friends.
Survivors include four daughters, Marjean Fahey, DeAnn (Clarke) Ford, and Joyce (Doug) Haas, all of Waukon, and Karen (Bob) Wagner of Berryville, Va.; a son, Larry “Butch” (Margaret) Schott of Columbus, Ga.; 14 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Delores Schuller of Ft. Bragg, Calif., and Darlene (Dean) Filloon of Palmer, Iowa; a brother, Dean (Eileen) Stoulil of Pocahontas, Iowa; and a very special couple, Maynard and LaVonne Johnson of Eyota, Minn.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Fran, who died in 2004; two sisters, Marcella Fosnot and Bernadine Quinlan; and two brothers, Gerald and Gean Stoulil.
Honorary casketbearers were her granddaughters, Teri Kruger, Patty Kammeyer, Brenda Leiran, Becky Hawes, Robin Rocksvold, and Leasha Wagner. Casketbearers were her grandsons, Scott, Cory, and TJ Haas, Brian, Brandon, and Jeremy Fahey, Brent Wagner, and Marty Johnson.Waukon, IA newspaper, April 6, 2005
