Robert "Bob" Reed, age 90, of Lansing, died Tuesday, March 19, 2002 at Thornton Manor in Lansing, IA.
Bob was born in Lansing on August 15, 1911, to Joseph and Hedwig (Kerndt) Reed.
He was married to Della McKee on Feb. 6, 1939 at the McKee residence, rural Lansing. They lived the entirety of their marriage on their farm in rural Lansing.
Bob was a lifelong resident of Allamakee County where he spent his life as a farmer. He enjoyed carpentry and operated a sawmill, using his own home-sawn lumber for buildings he built.
Bob is survived by his wife; Della Reed, Lansing; four children, Mary (Bob) Peters, Lansing, Glen (Eloise) Reed, Lansing, Kay (Jim) Christensen, Lansing, Roger (Mary) Reed, Lansing; 12 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Dorothy Walter, Guttenberg, and Ruth McKinney, Cedar Rapids.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Juliet Meyer; a brother, Bruce Reed; two grandsons, Dale Peters and Bob Christensen; and two infant granddaughters.
Funeral services were held Friday, March 22, 2002 at United Methodist Church in Lansing with Rev. Keith Putney officiating. Burial was in Oak Hill Cemetery, Lansing. Thornburg Hanson Funeral Home assisted with arrangements.
Casketbearers were his grandchildren. Honorary casketbearers were ; Francis "Chip" Walleser, Jim Strub, Roy Moore, Vernon Cooper, Jim Gruber, Buster Sweat, Tom Walleser and Bob Strub.
