Lois R. Hess,86,of Eldora,Iowa died Sunday October 31, 2010 at Israel Family Hospice House, Ames, Iowa. She was born August 22, 1924 in Postville, Iowa, daughter of Louis and Rose(Bellis) Benson. She married Clarence Hess on November 26, 1941, at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Eldora. Mrs. Hess graduated from country school in the Postville area. After marrying, she worked several part-time jobs in Eldora. She was a member of Ivester Church of Brethren.

Mrs. Hess is survived by three daughters, Joan (Larry) Harter of Lexington, Ohio, Loretta (Shorty) Reinertson of Eldora and Angie (Jeff) Waterhouse of Huntsville, NC.; two sons, Mike (Joyce) of Iowa Falls and John (Kathy) of Eldora; 18 grandchildren, three step-grandchildren, 31 gt-grandchildren,five step-gt. grandchildren, a gt-gt.grandchild; a step gt-gt grandchild; and two brothers, Lyle Benson and Fred Harrington.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Clarence on July 29, 2008;a son, David; a sister, Lorraine Brainard and a brother Laverne Benson. Memorial services were held at 11 a.m.Saturday, November 6, 2010 at Creps-Abels Funeral Home, Eldora. The family will greet friends after 10 am Saturday prior to the service at the funeral home.

She enjoyed collecting angel and cardinal figurines, reading, working puzzles, playing cards and really looked forward to attending social dinners at the Methodist and Lutheran churches.
