Funeral services were held Saturday May 6 for Elmer L. Busness, 90, who died Wednesday, May 3 at the Good Samaritan Center in Waukon. He had been a resident at Good Samaritan for one week. The 1:30 p.m. services were held at East Paint Synod Lutheran Church with Pastor Mark DeGarmeaux and Vicar Richard Tragasz officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery with Martin Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
He was born Sept. 16 in rural Waterville to Edward and Mathilda Anderson Busness. He attended rural Ness and Dahl schools and farmed with his brother Lester for 32 years, He played violin with his cousin Holger Busness for dances. He enjoyed baseball and horseshoes. He was a member of East Paint Creek Synod Church where he was a trustee and elder.
Surviving are two sisters, Esther Peterson and Gladys Tolander, both of Waterville, and a brother Lester of Waukon.
He was preceded in death by a sister Alice Ellefson, and two brothers, Clarence and Alvin in infancy.
Casket bearers were Gladwin Anderson, Darrell Busness, Carlton Jacobson, Robert C. Larson, Norman Leiran and Truman Ellefson.
