William P. Kruse, 82, of New Albin died Thursday, May 15, 1995 at Veterans Memorial Hospital, Waukon.
He was born Sept. 13, 1912 on his home farm in Union City Township, Allamakee County, IA to Louis and Frieda (Heitman) Kruse. On Feb. 16, 1939 he married Amanda Renk at St. John's (Wheatland) Church in rural New Albin. Together they lived on William's home farm until 1980 when they moved to New Albin.
William enjoyed many outdoor activities including fishing, gardening and farming. He also was a lifetime Chicago Cubs fan. William was a simple man with traditional values who enjoyed little successes in life.
He was a lifetime member of St. Luke's United Church of Christ in Eitzen, where he served at one time on two church councils. He was also on the school board for the Harmony Country schoolhouse in Union City Township.
Survivors include his wife, a daughter, Mary Ann (Greg) Stenlund of Brandon, FL; a son Paul (Monica) of Onalaska, WI; three grandchildren, Tanya, Derek and Justin Kruse; four sisters, Esther Haar of LaCrosse, WI; Violet (Arch) McKay of Eagle Grove; Helen Howard) Hauser of Caledonia, MN; and Norma Wagner of Walnut Creek, CA; and one brother, Harry Kruse of Eitzen, MN.
William was preceded in death by a son David; an infant daughter; a brother John and two sisters, Lula Todd and Irma Reinke.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, May 30, at 11 a.m. at St. Luke's United Church of Christ, Eitzen. Rev. Thomas Laufer officiated and burial was in the church cemetery.
