Andrew "Andy" Sorum, son of Oscar and Bemelia (Aure) Sorum, was born June 24, 1913 in Blue River, WI. He attended rural schools in Allamakee County.
Andy married Loretta Engen Aug. 21, 1944 at West Paint Creek Church. He was a retired farmer and member of Glenwood Lutheran Church where he had served on the church council. He was also a former board member of the Aase Haugen Home, Winneshiek Co-op and Winneshiek County NFO.
He died Monday, May 1, 1995, at the Good Samaritan Home; Andy was 81.
Surviving are his wife, five children and their spouses, Ordell and Bonnie Sorum, David and Mary Lou Sorum, Jerry and Irene Sorum, Ardys and Donn Johnson, and Mary Jean and Carlyle Kolsrud; 19 grandchildren; one great-grandchild, and a sister, Christine (Mrs. Lester) Bruvold.
Services were held Friday, May 5 at Glenwood Lutheran Church. The Rev. Joseph Lambert conducted the 11 a.m. services, burial was in Glenwood East Cemetery. Hanson Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Casket bearers were grandsons, Erik, Scot, Paul, Brady and Brad Sorum and Ryan and Preston Kolsrud.
