Since our last Mr. John Kelley, an old resident of this place has passed to life eternal, leaving a wife to mourn his loss. Mr. Kelley was of Irish parentage and was reared a Catholic, but contrary to the rules of his church he joined the Free Masons, and would never renounce his allegiance to that order, and for that reason Mrs. Kelley was deprived of the privilege of interring the remains of her departed husband in a Catholic burial ground, the Priests decreeing that holy and consecrated ground could never be contaminated with the remains of a heretic-a Mason. Such religion may be correct, but woe to some of its professors.

He and his wife are buried at the Postville Cemetery.
