From April 1903 Lansing, IA newspaper: Note: The paper refers to Michael as Thomas, don't know if it is typo or maybe he went by Thomas? -----"Another of the pioneers of Allamakee has been gathered to the fathers in the person of Thomas Bolger, who passed away at his home in this township Monday in the 80th year of his age. Deceased had been ailing for about three months but death was due to old age. Thomas Bolger was a native of the County Wexford Ireland, emigrated to this country in 1850 and came to Wexford with Father Hoar's colony in 1851. Two sons, Thomas, of Deadwood, S.D. and Walter of Cresco and five daughters, Sister Mary Leonida, Chicago, Mesdames J.W. Ryan and Thos. Hogan of Taylor township and Misses Celia and Francis at home survive to mourn the loss of a kind indulgent father. The funeral takes place at Paint Rock Wednesday and after a Solemn Requiem Mass the remains will be laid away in the cemetery adjoining, where rest the ashes of his wife who preceded him to the grave.
