DEATH CLAIMS THOMAS HOGAN
Lived Near Harpers Ferry Since Early Childhood
Death claimed Thomas F. Hogan of Harpers Ferry last Wednesday in a LaCrosse hospital. He was 88 years of age.
Funeral services were held Friday morning from St. Ann's church at Harpers Ferry with Rev. J.J. Costelloe in charge. Burial was in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Paint Rock.
Mr. Hogan was born Aug. 21, 1855 in St. Louis, Mo., the son of Francis and Mary Hogan. The family moved to Harpers Ferry when he was a small child. He was educated in the rural schools.
On January 28, 1891, Mr. Hogan and Mary Ann Bolger were united in marriage. Mrs. Hogan preceded her husband in death by five years. Six children, 19 grand children and one great grand child mourn Mr. Hogan's death.
The children are Frank, Charles and John of Harpers Ferry; Mrs. Joe Crowe of Detroit, Mrs. Frank Wagner of Lansing and Mrs. E.A. Delphey of Harpers Ferry. Mr. Hogan made his home with the latter since the death of his wife.
Two brothers and five sisters remain. His twin sister passed away 12 years ago, also another sister and a brother. The surviving brothers are John of Los Angeles and Henry of Covington, Kentucky.
Surviving sisters are Mrs. Bergman, Mrs. Snyder, and Mrs. Johnson of Chicago; Mrs. Thornton, Seattle and Mrs. T.A. Houlihan of Harpers Ferry.
Pallbearers were E.J. Valley, Melvin Wiedner, Arthur Houlihan, William Collins, W.L. Cota and Leonard Sadler. Out of town friends and relatives; Mrs. Gertie Bassler, Mrs. Leo Martin and Rev. Vernon Peters, all of Dubuque.
