THOMAS UREN

Lansing, Ia. – Special: Funeral services for Thomas Uren, 71, were held at the home with the Rev. Henry Marks officiating. Burial was in the Lansing Ridge Cemetery.

Mr. Uren died suddenly Thursday afternoon, being sick only a few hours. He died in the yard when he left the house feeling ill.

The pallbearers were: George, Sam and Ben Decker, James O’Donnell, Fred Zimmerman, and Herman Gelo.

Mr. Uren was a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Simon Uren and he was born April 15, 1870 in Wisconsin. When and infant, the family moved to California where they remained until he was 14 years old. Mr. Uren was married to Viola Kinney March 28, 1895 and they farmed near Stockton, Ill., until March 1, 1910 they came to Iowa, buying a farm in Allamakee County,

Mrs. Uren died in May, 1935. Two daughters also preceded him in death.

He is survived by two sons, Lester of Waterloo, and Archie of Lansing; a daughter, Mrs. Myrtle Shogren, with whom he lived; 18 grandchildren and three great grandchildren; a sister, Miss Bessie Uren of Apple River, Ill., and a brother, John of Warren, Ill.
