DIED - At her home in Marble Rock, Iowa, May 4, 1893, of consumption, Mrs. H. STOTT, aged 55 years, 6 months, and 21 days.
Mrs. STOTT was born at Bellefont, Pennsylvania, October 13th, 1837 and removed to Iowa, with her parents (Jacob and Jane O'NEIL KEPHART), in the spring of 1848 and has been a resident of this State ever since. She was married to H(ugh) STOTT, October 6th, 1854, in Dubuque and in company with her husband resided for 19 years in Dubuque county, from there they removed to Allamakee county where they lived for five years, after which they removed to Marble Rock (Floyd Co, IA). A husband and the following children mourn her loss, Mrs. G. S. JACKSON, of Harper's Ferry, Iowa, Mrs. J. F. PADDLEFORD, of Nora Springs, Iowa, Mrs. B. J. OAKES, of Marble Rock, and Milan STOTT, of Two Harbors, Minnesota, all of whom attended the funeral. Of a vigorous and robust constitution, Mrs. STOTT saw but very little ill health during her lifetime until the past few years, when the fell destroyer commenced his work. Medical skill proving of no avail she was sent to Florida with the hope that the change of climate would have the desired effect, upon her arrival the change appeared decidedly beneficial, but later on came a relapse and her sorrowing relatives brought her home to die, arriving on the 20th day of April in the midst of a terrific snow storm. She immediately took to her bed and never recovered sufficiently to sit up. All that loving hands and medical skill could do was of no avail and on the evening of May 4th, at 5:45 o'clock, the spirit of the good wife, the loving mother and kind friend soared away to her Master. She bore her affliction with Christian fortitude and without a murmur, and leaves behind her the fond remembrance of the graces of Christian virtues and womanhood. The funeral was held at the residence, Saturday afternoon, May 6th, Elder Brown officiating.
