Cyril P. Byrnes, 81, of 211 Bench St. died Wednesday, June 1, 1988, in Northgate Manor Nursing Home, Waukon.
He was born May 30, 1907, in Hanover Township, Allamakee Co., IA to Thomas and Bridget McKenna Byrnes.
He married Lucille Mauss April 17, 1937, in St. Mary's, Lycurgus.
Byrnes was a farmer and also worked in the Lansing Feed Store for a number of years. In later years he had worked for the IGA Store in Lansing.
Surviving are his wife, two sons, Donald of Ossian and James E. of Waukon; four daughters, Pauline Dundee of Marquette, Karen Keatley of Waukon, Carol Dougherty of New Albin and Shirley Olson of LaCrosse, WI; 26 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren; four sisters, Marjorie Cavanaugh, Kathleen Roerkohn and Betty Hammell, all of Caledonia, MN and Mary Schulte of Houston, MN, and a brother John of Kirkwood, IL.
He was preceded in death by a son and three brothers.
Services were held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday in Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. The Rev. Herbert Tegeler officiated. Burial was in Gethsemane Cemetery.
Friends called from 2 to 9 p.m. Friday at the Burke-Thornburg Funeral Home, where there was a wake service at 7 p.m.
