Funeral services for Hartley H. Meyer were held Friday, June 28, at 9:30 a.m. at the Larson Funeral Home, Milan, IL. Rev. Kevin G. Martin officiated. Interment was in Memorial Park Cemetery with military rites.
Hartley H. Meyer, son of Clarence Arthur and Marie (Brietsprecher) (sic) Meyer, was born February 25, 1925 in Postville. He died June 26, 1991 at U.M.C. West Hospital in Moline, IL where he had been an inpatient in Respiratory Care.
He married Audrey Florene Dougherty on July 21, 1946 in Moline, IL.
He served in the U. S. Marine corps during WW II, serving in Asia, Pacific, Okinawa, Ryukyu Island and the occupation of China.
He was a semi-tractor trailer driver for signal delivery. He retired in 1981 after 10 years. Before that he was a carpenter with Waters Construction, Rock Island and he worked for Container Corp., Rock Island for 14 years. He started out with McLaughlin Body in Moline. He also farmed in the Milan area.
He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church; A.A.R.P., and Teamsters Local #371.
He was preceded in death by his parents, an infant son, and a sister, Shirley Otdoerfer.
Surviving are his wife, Audrey; 4 daughters, Anita Myers (Warren) of Viola, IL, Bonnie Hudson of Davenport, IA, Mona Meyer of Milan, IL, and Nancy McDonough of Orion, IL; a son Dean of Rock Island, IL; 8 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; a sister, Dorothea Berberich of Edgington, IL and a brother, William of Sycamore, IL.
