OBITUARY
Herman Willman
That in the midst of life we are in death was evidenced again on Sunday morning last when Herman Willman, living about five miles northwest of Postville, succumbed to the ravages of diabetes after having been confined to his bed but three days.Herman Johann Fred Willman was born in Allamakee county, Iowa, February 13, 1886, and was confirmed in the Lutheran church. November 19, 1908, he was married to Miss Helen Dahms of this city. For two years following their marriage they lived on a farm south of Postville, after which he purchased the farm which has since been their home, northwest of Postville.
During the past few years he had been sorely tried by physical afflictions of various kinds which had considerably weakened him, and that he might the better conserve his health he a few weeks ago sold his present farm and bought the small farm of Fred Schultz, just north of Postville, which he and his wife had planned to occupy the coming January.
He was a thrifty, hard working man, honorable and upright in all his dealings with his fellow men, a good neighbor and devoted husband. And being of a social nature he made many friends who sincerely mourn his untimely passing and sympathize most sincerely with those bereft.
He leaves to mourn his loss his faithful wife and his mother, Mrs. Paul Willman, and the following brothers and sisters: Frank Willman of Yankton, S.D.; Mrs. Pauline Phelan and Miss Mary Willman of Mason City; John Willman of Eureka, S. D.; Henry Willman of Spirit Lake, Iowa; Mrs. Christine Harris, Mrs. John Hammond and Mrs. Bert Tuttle of Postville; William Willman of near Castalia; Mrs. J. J. Klein of Fort Dodge; Mrs. Edith Crain of Postville, and Rudolph Willman of near Luana.
His father, three brothers and a sister preceded him in death.
The funeral was held from the home Wednesday afternoon at 1:30 and at 2:30 from the Lutheran church in this city, Rev. E. Schmidt officiating. Interment in the Postville cemetery.
In this connection the wife and relatives wish to extend their heartfelt thanks to the kind friends for their many kindly acts and comforting words during the illness and after the death of the loved husband, son and brother.
