George Carl Eder, 85, died in a hospital at LaCrosse, Wisconsin, on Sunday, November 7, 1999. He was born February 22, 1914 at Strawberry Point, Iowa, to Michael and Anna (Pruess) Eder. He married Bette Borland on December 30, 1934, in Galena, Illinois. Prior to his retirement, in 1984, he owned and operated a Western Auto Hardware Store in Postville. He was a member of the St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Postville.

He is survived by his wife, Bette; son, Dennis (Linda) Eder of Elgin, Illinois; daughter, Pamela (John) Eder Gauvin of Dundee, Illinois; grandchildren, Sylvia Eder Kurtz of Yorkville, Illinois, David Carl (Amy) Eder of Byron, Illinois, and Peter John Gauvin of Fairborn, Ohio; great-grandchildren, Michael Wayne Kurtz of Yorkville, Illinois and Brandon Carl Eder of Byron, Illinois; two brothers, Helmuth "Pete" Eder of Strawberry Point, Iowa and Irvine Eder of Tallahassee, Florida. He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, Arthur, Louis, and Fred; and a sister Freda (Eder) Waring.
