Funeral services were held Sunday, March 18 at Zion United Church of Christ in Waukon with Rev. Richard N. Eick officiating. Burial was in Oakland Cemetery.
Norma E. Adam Easley was born on Oct. 12, 1915, on the Ludlow Township, rural Waukon, farm of her parents, John and Meta Helen (Goebel) Adam. She moved with her family at the age of eight to Harpers Ferry, where she remained most of the rest of her life. She graduated from Harpers Ferry High School in 1934, where she played basketball and the trombone. She then attended LeClaire Beauty School in Milwaukee, WI and became a hairdresser.
On Sept. 11, 1936, she married Herbert Easley in Waukon. After working for a time at a beauty shop in Waukon, she began operating a shop out of her home in Harpers Ferry, which she continued for over 50 years. Norma was baptized at Bethlehem Presbyterian Church, confirmed at Old East Paint Creek Lutheran Church, and since 1940 has been a member of Zion United Church of Christ, where she was active in ladies circle when able. Before her daughter Virginia's death at age 21, Norma devoted a lot of time to the special care she needed.
Norma enjoyed getting together with friends to play cards, do crafts, or just visit. She was an excellent seamstress and made many of the clothes her children wore. She loved music and played the piano and banjo, often singing around the house during chores. Family get-togethers and picnics were events she particularly enjoyed.
She is preceded in death by her parents and her daughter, Virginia. Survivors include her husband, Herbert, of Harpers Ferry; two daughters, Sandy (Pug) Stuefen of Cedar Rapids, and Elaine (Wayne) Martin of Waukon; five grandchildren, nine great grandchildren; one great great grandchild; and a brother, Leonard (Lorraine) Adam of Waukon.
