Funeral services for Kenneth L. Evans, 70, of Waukon, were held Tuesday, January 12, 1:30 p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church, Waukon. Rev. Larry Olson officiated. Burial was in the Oakland Cemetery. Martin Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
He was born February 6, 1917 in Allamakee County to parents Stiner Joseph and Rose Mary Harris Evans. He received his education at Postville High School.
June 4, 1953 he married Ruby Becker at the home of her parents in Waukon. The couple had 2 children.
He was a life time area resident. He served in the Navy Pacific Theatre during WW II and was the recipient of the Purple Heart. He served 7½ years in the armed forces. He worked 25 years as a surveyor --- REA, roads, paving, 5 years for Brown Co. in Des Moines; 10 years for Iowa Highway Commission out of Decorah, 2 years Erdman Cons., Decorah; Zoning Commission in Waukon, postal clerk in Battle Creek, MI, 3 years; CCC camp in McGregor, 2 years.
Preceding him in death were 2 brothers, Otto and Harris, and a sister Angie.
Surviving is his wife Ruby; 2 sons, William (Bill), and Joseph Edward, both of Waukon; 3 sisters, Mrs. James (Gretta) Williams, Gastonia, North Carolina, Bonnie Reardon, Elkader and Bobbie Becker, Waukon.
Pallbearers were Dennis Miller, James Marti, Sam Jones, Kenneth Brandt, Keith Smith and Gayle Evans.
