Orlean Dale Ellefson of Waukon, age 78, passed away May 26, 2010 at Northgate Care Center in Waukon. Funeral and burial services will be held Wednesday, June 2 at 11 a.m. at Old East Paint Creek Lutheran Church in rural Waukon with Pastor Ken Kimball officiating. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Tuesday, June 1 at Hanson Funeral Home, Waukon.
Orlean Dale Ellefson was born in Allamakee County December 11, 1931, the son of Odin and Gessina (Toso) Ellefson. He attended school near La Crosse, WI and served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War, 1953-1955.
He married Marilyn Grant on March 12, 1966 at the Little Brown Church in Nashua. Their marriage was blessed with six children and six grandchildren.
Orlean worked as a farmer and enjoyed the outdoors, fishing, playing cards and spoiling his grandchildren and his dogs, Molly and Bailey. He was a member of Old East Paint Creek Lutheran Church.
He is survived by his wife; his children, Brian Ellefson of Lansing, Kerry Ellefson of Independence, MO, Belinda Ellefson of Waukon, Curtis Ellefson of Independence, MO, Karla Ellefson of Waukon and Tori (Ryan) O誰eill of Waukon; six grandchildren; and siblings Oretta Hill and James Ellefson, both of Waukon. He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Dawanda Ellefson; and siblings Beverly Ellefson, Ardin Ellefson and Junice Bolsinger.
Casket bearers are Brian Ellefson, Kerry Ellefson, Curtis Ellefson, Ryan O誰eill, Tom Ryder and Donald Ryder. Honorary casket bearers are Belinda Ellefson, Karla Ellefson, Tori O誰eill, Teletha McCollough, Dawanda Ryder, Tara Hager, Desiree Tollefson, Dallas Ellefson, Brooke O誰eill, Kyah O誰eill, Sal Ellefson and Teresa Ellefson.Waukon, Iowa newspaper, THE STANDARD, June 2, 2010.
