Lucille (Troendle) Mauss, age 92, of New Albin passed away peacefully early Sunday morning, April 25, 2010 at Gundersen Lutheran Medical Center in LaCrosse, WI surrounded by loved ones. A funeral Mass to celebrate Lucille’s life will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 28 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in New Albin, with Monsignor Ed Lechtenberg officiating. Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. Tuesday, April 27 at the New Albin Community Center.

Lucille was born in Lansing February 11, 1918 to Herman and Margaret Magdalena (Ferring) Troendle. She married Bernard Mauss June 20, 1939 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Lansing. Together they enjoyed 70 years of married life in New Albin and were blessed with seven children.

Throughout her adult life, Lucille was a proficient housewife and loving, at-home mom. She also worked for over 19 years with Bernard and her mother-in-law, Florence, running Mauss Hatchery in their home. She will be remembered by those who knew her as a fun-loving person who enjoyed cocktail hour, old-time dancing, baking, gardening, canning, needlework, and especially a good game of euchre.

She is survived by her husband, Bernard; six children, Mary Benson of New Albin, Doris (Charles) Berns of Harpers Ferry, Pat (Jim) Wellendorf of Lansing, Larry (Deb Colsch) of La Crosse, WI, Rita (Jim) Sanchez of La Crosse, WI and Dale (Lori Kriston) of New Albin; 28 grandchildren; 51 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; one brother-in-law, Mark Mauss; two sisters-in-law, Alberta Troendle and Laurayne Mauss; numerous nieces and nephews; and her wonderful caretaker, Donna Mahr.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, David; a sister, Adeline Hammel; her brothers, John and Joe Troendle; a son-in-law, Jim Benson; her sisters-in-law, Mary and Beatrice Mauss; and her brothers-in-law, Paul Hammel and Fred and Connie Mauss.
