A memorial service for Evelyn Looby was held Saturday, January 4, 1997 at 11 a.m. at the Schutte Funeral Home in Postville. The Rev. Gary Catterson officiated. Interment will be in the Postville Cemetery.

Evelyn June (Dennler) Looby, the daughter of Walter and Anna (Reinhart) Dennler was born March 14, 1920 at Elgin, Iowa. She died Tuesday, December 24, 1996 at Park Point Manor, Duluth, Minn. She was 76 years old.

She graduated from the Elgin High School. On January 25, 1939 she was married to Charlton Lavern Looby at the Methodist Parsonage in Elgin. They were the parents of one daughter, Kelly and one son, Dale.

The couple farmed south of Elgin for several years, then moved to the Wadena area to farm. They also lived in Oelwein where Charlton was employed by an implement company. The family moved to Postville in 1965 and Charlton and Evelyn bought the Kent Feed Business here. Evelyn had resided in Duluth, Minn. for the past six months.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Charlton who died March 1, 1994 and a son, Dale.

Surviving is a daughter, Kelly of Duluth and a sister, Marie Meyer of West Union. She also leaves behind her cat, Shadow.

Evelyn enjoyed feeding goldfinches and squirrels, being around animals, working in her flower beds and garden and taking care of her cat. She was an avid Chicago Cubs and Bulls fan. She also enjoyed spending time with her friends.
