Services were held Friday, February 1 at 2:00 p.m. at Lake Park Lutheran Church, Milwaukee, Wisconsin, for the Rev. Frederick R. Ludwig, 67, who died Tuesday, January 29 at Columbia hospital after being hospitalized a week from a heart ailment. Rev. Ludwig was pastor of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Postville from February 1, 1938 until April 15, 1953.
Pastor Ludwig had been serving as chaplain at Luther Manor Nursing Home since his retirement last year. He had moved to Milwaukee in 1953 from Postville and had served a congregation in Mount Pulaski, Illinois.
He graduated from Wagner College in New York and Chicago Lutheran Theological Seminary, Maywood, Illinois and was ordained in 1933. He was one of the founders of the United Lutheran Programs for the Aged at Luther Manor.
His wife, Johanna, is a sister of J. Martin Klotsche, former chancellor of the University of Wisconsin, Milwaukee.
Pastor Ludwig received an honorary degree from Carthage College, Kenosha in 1963 and served as secretary of the board of American Missions of the Lutheran Church in America for many years. He was a member of the Rotary International and served on the board of directors of Luther Manor.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two brothers, Hans and Lothar, both of Philadelphia, and three sisters, Martha and Gertrude Ludwig, both of Chicago and Mrs. Edythe Schafer, Philadelphia.
Entombment was private at Wisconsin Memorial Park.
