Fred George Lange 1893-1956

Funeral services were held Tuesday at 2:00 p.m. at the Schutte Funeral Home for Fred G. Lange, 62, who passed away Saturday at his home. The Rev. Walter T. Martin, pastor of the Community Presbyterian Church, was in charge of the rites. Burial was in Postville cemetery.

Fred George Lange, son of August William and Fredricka Neihaus Lange, was born in Postville on October 1, 1893. He died Saturday, March 3, 1956, at the age of 62, in the home in which he was born, in Postville.

Fred Lange attended the public school in Postville. He was a World War I veteran having served in the Army 14 months. He saw service in a replacement unit in Europe. Mr. Lange was a workman of skill who engaged in many types of work during his life. He was a well driller, windmill construction and repair man, building mover, plumber's mechanic and one who spent much time sawing lumber.

Fred Lange was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Mrs. George (Lucy) Brown and one brother, Ben W. Lange.

He is survived by three sisters: Mrs. George (Julia) Wharam of Mason City; Mrs. Sam (Hannah) Carney of Tulsa, Oklahoma; Edna Lange of Chicago; and one brother, Henry A. Lange of Postville.
