Funeral services were held on Sat., June 17, 1978 at 2:00 p.m. in the Garden City United Methodist Church in Monona for Leta Liddle. She died June 15 at the age of 86 years, 10 months, and 19 days. Pastor Carroll Brown officiated. Burial was in Smithfield Cemetery. Pallbearers were Wayne, Joe, Wilbur and Lloyd Rose and Harris and Kenneth Evans.
Leta (Rose) Evans Liddle was born to Charles and Vina (Johnson) Rose on July 26, 1891 in Franklin Township near Volney. She lived her entire life around Volney and Rossville, except for moving to East Moline, Ill. to work for John Deere Harvestor Works for twelve years. She retired to Monona, Iowa, in 1958. For the last two and a half years she has been a resident in the Good Samaritan Home at Waukon.
On Jan. 19, 1911, she married Carl Evans and to this union four children were born. She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl, and two sons, Lyle and Gerald.
In August of 1962, she married Ralph Liddle of East Moline, Ill. and he preceded her in death in 1964.
She leaves to mourn her passing, her daughter, Mrs. Felix (Velma) Moritz; her son, Earl Evans of Moline, Ill.; six grandchildren, sixteen great-grandchildren; her sister, Mrs. Ernest (Velva) Stafford, and one brother, Gilbert Rose, and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, Clarence, George, and Dell Rose, one sister, Blanche Thomas.
