Mrs. LEONARD (Florence Esther Snitker) KOENIG

Funeral services for Mrs. Leonard (Florence) Koenig were scheduled for Wednesday, March 14, 1984 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Postville. The Rev. Julius L. Peterson officiated. The Schutte Funeral Service of Postville was in charge of arrangements. Burial was in the Postville Cemetery.

Florence Esther Koenig, daughter of August and Martha (Becker) Snitker was born Feb. 28, 1922 in Allamakee County near Waukon. She died Sunday, March 11, 1984 at St. Mary's Hospital, Rochester, MN.

She was baptized April 30, 1922 at Waukon and confirmed there on April 5, 1936. Florence attended a rural school in Ludlow Township and graduated from the Waukon High School in 1942.

On Jan. 20, 1943 she was married to Leonard Koenig at the home of her parents. To this union five children were born. They farmed for 21 years. She was a D. H. I. A. Supervisor from May 1964 to the present.

Florence was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, the L. C. W. and Altar Committee and a 20 year member of the State D. H. I. A. Supervisors Association.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two sons, Leon in 1964 and Ronald in 1967; a twin brother and a sister, Inez (Mrs. Gus Gerleman).

Surviving besides her husband, Leonard, are a son, James, Postville; twin daughters, Karen (Mrs. Gary West), Marion: and Sharon (Mrs. Gary Johnson), Byron, MN; four grandchildren; a brother, Ralph Snitker, Waukon; and five sisters, Mrs. Roy (Mildred) Sohn, Howard Grove, WI; Norma Kruger, Monona; Loraine Kruger, Decorah; Mrs. Loren (Ruby) Koenig, Postville, and Mrs. Donald (Laverne) Koester, West Union.
