Funeral services were held Saturday, March 30, 1991, at 1 p.m. in the Rossville Presbyterian Church with Rev. James Jacobson officiating. Burial was in Oakland Cemetery. Pallbearers were John Owen, James Leas, Dean Jackson, Gilbert Eadie, Vern Haberichter, Lowell Siegele, George Erbe and Wilbur Rose. Martin Funeral Home, Waukon, was in charge of arrangements.

Zelda D. Leas, 90, of Waukon, died March 27 at Veterans Memorial Hospital, Waukon. She was born May 26, 1900 at Rossville, Iowa, daughter of Charles C. and Margaret (Hoard) Deal.

She attended rural school near Rossville and also business school in LaCrosse, Wisconsin. She was a lifetime county resident, most of the time in the Rossville area and then moved to Waukon in 1988. On November 18, 1932 she married H. Leslie Leas in Chicago, Illinois. She was a member of Rossville Presbyterian Church.

Preceding her in death was her husband, Leslie, who died August 14, 1989; a sister, Fearyl Leas and brothers Merrill and Lynn Deal.

Surviving her are two daughter, Marlene (Bill) Mortell of Bloomingdale, Illinois, Karen (Vince) Kavlick of Dove Canyon, California; a brother, Eugene Deal of Waukon and a sister, Ireta Leas of Rossville.
