Adaline Taylor

Adaline Taylor was born July 31, 1846 in Woodstock, Illinois, and passed peacefully away in the afternoon of August 10, 1907, at the age of 61 years and ten days. She came with her parents to Allamakee county at the age of 6 years, and lived in Ludlow Township until ten years ago, at which time she moved to Waukon.

She was married on January 1, 1866, to James Shaff, and to this union one child was born, Mrs. Estella Meikle of this city, Mr. Shaff died December 21, 1897, and September 23, 1902 was married to George W. Taylor.

Mrs. Taylor was clearly converted to God at the early age of 13 years and united with the Methodist Episcopal church at once. Through all these years she served and enjoyed her church and her God. Quiet and unassuming, yet ever loyal and true. She was particularly a home-maker and a home-lover.

Mrs. Taylor was the last of a family of three girls. Mr. Taylor, the only child, Mrs. Meikle and two grandsons remain to mourn her death. Besides the near relatives Mrs. Taylor had many steadfast friends who extend their sympathy to the bereaved ones.

Funeral Services were held in the Methodist Church Monday afternoon at two o'clock.

*Adaline is burried at the Oakland Cemetery in Waukon. Her parents were Harmon S. Wood and Rachel Hanna Mathews. She had a twin sister, Emaline and another sister, Alvira Louisa. Alvira married was the first to marry James Shaff and she passed away on 18 Sept 1864. Then Adaline married James Shaff.
