Mrs. Francis Dresser
Died at her home east of town last Thursday afternoon aged 80 years. Harriett Auhenbau was born at Reading, Pa., March 28, 1841. At the age of 14 years she left her native state and moved to Hardin, Iowa, where she lived with a family named J. L. Gray for several years and taught school. On October 1861 she was united in marriage to Francis Dresser, with whom she lived 59 years. To this union were born five children. One died in infancy, Chas. E. died July 27, 1918, and Cora, Wilbur and Leonard live in Emmett. There are also seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Until 1892 the family lived on a farm north of Ville and in the spring of 1909 came to Postville, Iowa, then moved to Postville, and the spring of 1909 came to Emmett. Her husband died October 28, 1919. Being a kind and loving wife and a devoted mother, she lived a quiet but consistent Christian lif, sacrificing to the last degree in deeds of kindness and love to both family and neighbors. The funeral services were held at the Methodist church on Saturday conducted by Rev. E. G. Keith, and interment was in Riverside cemetery by the side of her late husband -- Emmett (Idaho) Index, March 3, 9121.
