Mrs. Melvin Hanson Passed Away Monday
Again we have to report the sudden death of a loving wife and mother, Mrs. Melvin Hanson, who passed away within a few minutes from a heart attach at her home in South Lansing about seven o'clock Monday morning. It was indeed a shock to family and friends as she apparently was in good health and had planned an outing for the day.
Sylvia Sandry was born May 5th, 1919 at Churchtown, a daughter of the late Jacob Sandry and Alvina Styir. Her mother passed away at the time of her birth and an older sister, Mrs. Ferne Protsman and her grandmother as well as an aunt, Mrs. Arthur Feuerhelm of Waukon were entrusted with her care. She attended the rural schools of Winnebago Valley near New Albin and later the local public schools after the family had moved to make their home in Lansing.
She was married January 13, 1937 to Melvin Hanson at Waukon and besides the bereaved husband is deeply mourned by 5 children, Pfc Keith, stationed with the Army in Germany, Kenneth of Lansing, Ruth Jordan of Decorah, Roberta and Richard at home. Other survivors include one sister, Mrs. Prostman and one brother Odean Sandry and four grandchildren. Other survivors include 7 nephews, 2 nieces, and other relatives.
The funeral services will be held from the First Presbyterian Church in Lansing on Friday afternoon at one-thirty or two o'clock pending the arrival of her son from Germany. Reverend James Coats, resident pastor, will officiate and burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery.Allamakee Journal
