Rites for Mrs. John Slattery

A mass of requiem was said Monday, Nov. 30, at 9 a.m. in St.Patrick's Church in Waukon for Mrs. John Slattery. Burial was in St.Pius cemetery, Cherry Mound.
Mrs. Slattery died at her home Thursday, Nov. 26, following a stroke. She had been in poor health for some time. She was born Mary Mullaney December 25, 1880 and was a daughter of Timothy and Rose Conway Mullaney.
She was educated in the local schools and taught school for a number of years. In June 1918, she married John Slattery in St.Patrick's Church in Waukon. He preceded her in death and after his death Mrs. Slattery was postmistress in Waterville. Later she moved to Waukon.
Survivors are a son, Emmett of LasVegas, Nevada and two sisters, Mrs. John (Florence) O'Brien and Mrs. Ray (Margaret) Ryan of Waukon. A son John Paschal, who was in the Navy died in 1941 in California.
Mrs. Slattery was a member of St.Patrick's Church in Waukon. Bakke and Hanson were in charge of funeral arrangements.
James Bird of Chicago, Ill.; Mrs. John Duntemann, Thomas and Rose Marie of Des Planes, Ill. and Dr. John Ryan of Midland, Mich. came to attend the wake and funeral.
Casket bearers were Willard Lieran, Mulroy McDermott, Walter Howe, A.P. Larkin, Joe Kelly and Glen Hagen.
